Wayne Rogers

Wayne began his early music studies in St. John's NL and continued with organ studies at Mount Allison University, organ and voice studies at Boston University and completed a Masters of Music degree in music literature and performance from the University of Western Ontario. His professional career has included Organist and Choirmaster in St. John's NL, Amherst, NS, and Mount Allison University, NB. He has taught music at elementary schools in St. John's and in 1977 was appointed Director of Music at Memorial University of Newfoundland Sir Wilfred Grenfell College.

From 1982 to 1997 Wayne was Organist and Choirmaster at First United Church in Corner Brook, NL followed by 10 years as Minister of Music at Trinity United Church in New Glasgow. Wayne is currently Minister of Music at St. Matthew's United Church in Halifax, where he conducts the Church Choir, the Handbell Choir and The Lunch Bunch [part of St. Matthew's ministry outreach]. He also conducts the Bedford Singers. He is a member of the NS Registered Music Teachers' Association, Association of Canadian Choral Conductors and Royal Canadian College of Organists.
